  The food is really good but most of the staff seem to view customers as a necessary evil.

  We drove an hour from our home to go to a nearby lake and had been to a San Jose at a different location and all wanted Mexican food. So my family and OUR GUEST came to this location and at the front was greeted by two ladies and we even asked "if we sit outside is the service going to be poor?" As we are from a service town and know how that goes. We sit outside and place our orders, the server had to look into the menu to know what my husband was ordering. We receive our plates but our guest.......never got theirs. It was a solid 8 mins before the server ever came out "to make sure everything was fine". Mind you, one of our guest was 2 years old. Also being the youngest in our party. Never. Got. Her. Food. After swimming all day. And waiting 45 mins. I asked to speak to a manager and waited 12 mins. No one ever came. I walked in and became that customer I never wanted to become! I snapped my fingers and demanded to see a manger. Another 10 mins passed and "a manager" came outside. Barely said anything other than "what did y'all order". I'm shaking my head, I had already handed my plate over and my sons plate over to share our food. A few mins later our guest decided they were going elsewhere. I was embarrassed and sorry I had even chose this place and wished it was mine and my husbands food that wasn't delivered. GO ELSE WHERE. This place has POOR service and POOR management.
  
  Oh my family and everyone had went to the car and I sat outside again waiting.. waiting for OUR check. I sat for 5 mins and I thought man maybe the check is just upfront. I walked in and to the front desk. I said "ma'am is this where we pay?" And it was. I still had no check and I once again asked to speak to the manager... FIVE MINUTES I STOOD THERE and no one came!! I'm beyond disappointed and frustrated at this point. I stated that I just wanted to pay and leave at this point as they had held my family up enough at this point. Needless to say they called the manger bc he was gone "getting more limes" and he stated that it was fine, we didn't have to pay. Not what we wanted. We wanted a real apology and explanation! "I'm sorry, this server is new and forgot to put your order in. Here let me give you this while you wait and don't worry these few dishes are on me and again we apologize." Would have worked a lot better than running and hiding.
  
  I hope the owners read this and I can't say all is poor management but on 7/6/2019 around 6:30pm poor management was in house. I'm understanding of new servers but if mistakes happen they must be addressed not "oh wait what did you order" and "I don't know what happened."
  
  This place let me and my guest down.

  I so love this place.Great food and service, I eat here about 3 days a week and sometimes twice in a day. I love all the food my favorite waitress is Jamie, such a sweetheart. The manger Elfen is awesome. The best food in this little town. Great atmosphere and great drink specials, live dj on fridays & Saturday nights... they will host your party needs as well.

  Excellent service. Food is reasonable. I can't speak to the authenticity of the food, but it is tasty and a certainly a notch above what I expected. It's not great though. The chips were a bit stale and left a funny after taste so not exactly the best of appetizers to start a meal with. I got one of their combo deals (chicken burrito+enchilada+tamale) and it was good for the most part. Chicken was a bit overcooked and the side salad had a few pieces of lettuce that was browning. All in all it was a satisfactory meal, but the subtle mishaps here and there prevent me from scoring this place any higher.
  
  I did want to comment on the service of this place. Our waiter mistakenly gave us the wrong order and was very apologetic when we informed him. He removed the wrong entree and came back with the manager to serve the correct dish. Not necessary of course but hats off for being so cordial about that.
  
  Portion sizes are definitely huuge though if you're looking for that.

  I would give this restaurant a 3 1/2 stars if I could. I had the Tilapia Veracruz which had Tilapia and shrimp with peppers and onions in a red sauce. It was tasty but the sauce really overwhelmed any of the other flavors. Also got a side order of homemade Quacamole which was really good. The staff was attentive and friendly. Not sure about authentic, but it was good.
